Overview

HK Cricket provides a fair and transparent warranty designed to protect players against genuine manufacturing faults while recognising the natural characteristics of English willow. Every HK Cricket bat is handcrafted, and each piece of willow is unique. As a result, no two bats will behave identically, and natural wear is expected.

This warranty outlines what is covered, what is not, and how players can make a claim.

Warranty Duration

  • Standard Warranty: 6 months from the date of purchase
  • Covers: Manufacturing defects only
  • Proof Required: Valid receipt or order confirmation

What the Warranty Covers

The warranty applies only to manufacturing faults, including:

  • Handle faults such as becoming loose or unglued
  • Blade splitting caused by structural weakness in the willow
  • Delamination of the face due to adhesive failure
  • Major structural issues not caused by impact or misuse

If a bat is deemed faulty due to manufacturing issues, HK Cricket will:

  • Repair the bat where possible, or
  • Replace the bat with a like-for-like model (subject to availability)

What the Warranty Does Not Cover

Because cricket bats are made from natural willow, certain types of damage are considered normal wear and tear or misuse. These are not covered under warranty:

Natural Wear & Tear

  • Surface cracks on the face, edges, or toe
  • Toe damage from yorkers or damp surfaces
  • Edge cracks from mistimed shots
  • Cosmetic blemishes or willow imperfections

Misuse or Avoidable Damage

  • Water damage from playing on wet wickets
  • Damage from poor storage (e.g., leaving the bat in a hot car)
  • Excessive use of hard balls or bowling machine balls
  • Lack of proper knocking-in or preparation
  • Over-oiling or incorrect maintenance

Player Responsibilities

To maintain warranty eligibility, players must:

  1. Properly knock in the bat before use
  2. Apply a protective facing or scuff sheet
  3. Use an anti-scuff toe guard where possible
  4. Store the bat in a cool, dry environment
  5. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture or heat

Warranty Claim Process

If you believe your bat has a manufacturing fault:

  1. Stop using the bat immediately to prevent further damage.
  2. Contact HK Cricket with:
    • Photos/videos of the issue
    • Proof of purchase
    • A brief description of how the damage occurred

HK Cricket will assess the claim and advise whether the bat qualifies for repair or replacement.

Assessment Notes

  • All claims are reviewed by an experienced bat technician.
  • HK Cricket’s decision is final.
  • If the bat is repairable, repairs will be prioritised over replacement.

Repairs Outside Warranty

HK Cricket also offers paid repair services for:

  • Toe repairs
  • Edge repairs
  • Handle replacements
  • Full refurbishments

These services help extend the life of your bat even if the damage is not covered under warranty.
